In June 2021, 64 people applied to serve on the Downtown Plan Steering Committee. In September 2021, the Huntersville Town Board officially created the Committee and appointed 15 voting members. Eight other nonvoting (ex-officio) members were appointed as representatives of boards and agencies that play a role in Downtown improvements.

Applicants who were not appointed from the initial list, form the Downtown Plan Ambassadors, who will be asked to stay involved in the Downtown Plan process.
